Re-imagining the City: Exploring the Intimity between Community and Place

Abstract

In this paper, we explore the concept of "Mente locale" in the context of a city as a locus of human endeavour, and the elaboration of "images" that represent the city and reflect the complexity of the people and the community, as a vital part of the transformative process that starts with re-imagining place. We also expose how the experience of space becomes the premise for exploring the intimacy between community and the place lived, the need for it to be restored to the hearth of human clusters, creating space for sustainability and the city's resilience.
