Visual Chaos and Enhancement of Alexandria Street Facades

Abstract

The visual quality of the built environment has a great influence on daily human behavior as well as psychological wellbeing. Unattractive man-made visual elements have become major sources of aesthetic pollution within the building sector. This article first discusses the main causes of building visual pollution. The case study of Alexandria City will be analyzed to highlight the major causes of visual clutter within the street facades. Finally, the research will suggest some modifications in order to eliminate the visual chaos created along the main street facade in the new congested business center of Alexandria.
